The Hershey Company, an American company that is one of the largest chocolate manufacturers in the world, recently acquired a female CEO. Michele Buck defied the odds when she became the first female CEO in the company’s 123-year history. Fortune magazine even included her on its 2017 list of 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. This inclusion made Michele one of the 32 women in the list of women leading 500 top-ranked companies. In an interview with the magazine, Michele discloses her life history. Born in a humble family living on a farm, she learned the value of hard work. The assumption to top-level management was proof that her hard work in the 12 years of service at The Hershey Company, had been rewarded. During her service, she would accept difficult tasks even when she had no idea of how to go about them. She went on to advise women in business to make an impact in every particular job that they are given at work and to be confident in themselves. Michele disclosed that most women do not have confidence in themselves, and tend to criticize themselves too much. She believes that there is no substitute for hard work.
