Response to The Power of Putting People First: Building a Culture of Care and Success in Business

The culture of putting people first is good for any business organization. As you have stated, I believe that one does not hire employees for their backs but for their minds and winning spirit. This is key to the success of any business since the greatest asset for any business is its workforce. I like the biblical examples that you have given in your discussion, especially the example of treating your neighbor as family and caring about them. The vision of FedEx seems to echo the teachings of the bible on how one should treat others. The vision recognizes the importance of people and the role that they play in the success of a business. Through showing care and love, an organization is able to establish a friendly and peaceful environment that is conducive for business.

Through taking care of customers, employees, resources, and working with one another, the organization is guaranteed of business success and fewer misunderstandings. I agree with you that it is the duty of leaders to set the tone in an organization using their policies, words, and actions. Leading by directing and being authoritative may not be the best way to lead an organization since employees perform better when working under a boss who cares about them and with whom they have a healthy relationship (Cote, 2017).
