Media Advocacy Critical Thinking Paper
ANSWER
Global Climatic Change
The world is experiencing drastic climatic changes. Due to the modern lifestyle fueled by the tremendous production of goods, the ozone layer is damaged on a daily. Since humans have to get rid of the problem they have caused, the society is in a great dilemma. The society is torn between changing the lifestyle and using other means to save the planet.
Argument for using other means: Global climatic change is also contributed by nature.
Data: According to Time for Change, climate change is caused by the some animals. For instance, cows produce methane which is among the greenhouse gases causing global warming.
Argument for changing of lifestyle: Major climatic changes have been experienced with increased industrialization.
Data: Industries produce the highest percentage of greenhouse gases. According to National Geographic, global warming has increased gradually since the start of industrialization. It has caused challenges such as extreme weather conditions, increased atmospheric temperature, and changing human lifestyle (Mgbemene et al. 302). The worsening climatic conditions are caused by increasing greenhouse gas emissions (“Causes of Climate Change”). Consequently, the temperatures have risen on earth.
Argument for using other means: The society is already accustomed to certain ways of living, and changing them will be impossible if not hard.
Data: Vegans across the world are running movements against eating of beef to save the planet. Although few people have managed to change their lifestyle, a huge percentage have remained rigid (“Fight Climate Change By Going Vegan”).
Argument for change of lifestyle: Being the main means of transport worldwide, vehicles contribute greatly to climate change.
Data: Numerous car producing companies are coming up with electric cars that produce zero emission in order to save the planet and reduce cost of transport. A good example is Tesla who only produce electric vehicles (“Factcheck: How Electric Vehicles Help To Tackle Climate Change”).
