A business essay is an area of study. Depending on the nature of your topic, it can be written for academic or professional use. It is a subject that requires writing skills and understanding course material. Business essays are found in subjects such as management information systems, finance, economics, accounting, statistics, MBA programs, and other business-related topics. Essays are usually studied by students over an extended period of time where they learn the main points then write their own essays to test their knowledge with regards to the course materials. Before you begin writing your business essay, you need to have a good understanding of what is required before moving forward.
Step 1: Pick Your Topic Carefully
When deciding on your topic, there are several questions that you need to ask yourself. What do you like? Are you interested in it? If not, it will be difficult for you to write about something that does not interest you because your focus will end up elsewhere, and your essay will suffer as a result.
Step 2: Research Your Topic
When beginning your research, remember that the internet contains loads of information, but there are good sources and bad ones like all information. It would be best to look for reputable sources (from very well-known organizations or institutions) and current. It is worth noting that even quality sources can sometimes contain inaccurate information, so always check what you find with other credible sources before incorporating any data into your paper.
Step 3: Write Your Introduction
The introduction of your business essay is similar to other types of essays in that it should also start with a hook that will draw the reader into your essay. It needs to be interesting and informative, but remember that you are not writing for amusement purposes, so do not make it too personal or use cases where possible. For example, “I was watching TV when I heard about XYZ corporation” would be considered irrelevant material as there is no correlation between your experience and what you are writing about. You want to keep the reader interested throughout this section by including information on the topic itself. Most importantly, it would be best if you first introduce your topic then move to supporting points before discussing whether or not the topic was successful/important enough for further research.
Step 4: Support Your Points
In this section, you need to write about the topic using your research. Add in any data found from your research and use it to back up what you are saying. You should also add examples because they help illustrate your point and make it easier for the reader to understand exactly what you are trying to teach them. However, it is important that you do not include too many personal examples as these will distract the reader from the main topic at hand.
Step 5: Conclusion
Once again, a conclusion resembles other essays by coming full circle and summing up everything that was discussed earlier in the essay. This time, however, you need to include a few things extra because it adds strength and credibility to your essay. Mention what your research revealed on the topic, mention whether it is important and relevant enough for more study, and finally, give your personal opinion as to whether or not you think that more research is required, why or why not.
