One of the main areas that my research will focus on will be the view of the social and economic development of African Americans. Generally, many polls and the media report an improvement in the economic and social status of the communities of color. However, this is not true, as this book shows. The incarcerated members of the community and their families are excluded in the polls, according to Pettit (2012). The myth of social development will be discussed in my research.
